Applications and Principles

Chlorantraniliprole possesses a unique insecticidal mechanism, making it a highly effective insecticide. It activates insect ryanodine receptors, leading to the excessive release of calcium ions within insect cells, ultimately causing paralysis and death. It exhibits high larvicidal activity against lepidopteran pests and offers a broad spectrum of insect control, characterized by its long-lasting effectiveness. Experimental results show that it is 10-100 times more active against target pests compared to other products. Additionally, it can disrupt the mating process of certain lepidopteran insects and reduce the oviposition rate of various noctuid pests.

Due to its excellent persistence and rainfastness, chlorantraniliprole displays attributes such as translaminar activity, systemic movement, chemical stability, high insecticidal potency, and the ability to halt feeding in insects. These characteristics set it apart as a crop protection agent with longer and more stable efficacy than the majority of other insecticides currently in use.

Chlorantraniliprole is registered for use in controlling major rice pests, particularly those that have developed resistance to other rice insecticides, such as rice leaf roller, rice stem borer, rice leaf folder, and rice ear-cutting caterpillar, as well as the rice gall midge, rice hispa, and rice water weevil. It is classified as a low-toxicity pesticide, ensuring the safety of applicators, beneficial insects, and aquatic life. Its residual effects last for over 15 days, and it exhibits good compatibility when mixed with other pesticides.
